The garden of kings
Created in 1564 for Catherine de' Medici, then redesigned by Le Nôtre a century later, the Tuileries Garden links the Louvre to the place de la Concorde. Its avenues, its ponds and the Maillol statues make it the most classic walk in Paris.
What to do there
Settle into the green chairs around the ponds, hire a little sailing boat for the children at the Grand Bassin Rond, and finish at the Musée de l'Orangerie for Monet's Water Lilies. In summer, the funfair sets up on the rue de Rivoli side.
From the hotel
Walk down rue de Richelieu, cross rue de Rivoli and follow the Louvre: the garden begins just after the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.
