Charles Garnier's palace
Inaugurated in 1875, the Palais Garnier is the most spectacular monument of the Second Empire. Marble, gilding, mosaics: the Grand Staircase and the Grand Foyer can be seen on a self-guided visit (ticket required) during the day.
Chagall's ceiling
In the auditorium, look up at the ceiling painted by Marc Chagall in 1964. The auditorium is not always open during the visit because of rehearsals: the best way to see it is still to attend a ballet or an opera.
A lovely walk from the hotel
Avenue de l'Opéra starts a stone's throw from the hotel and leads straight to the palace. In the evening, the illuminated façade alone is worth the walk.
